Federal COVID Vaccination Center Opens in Baton Rouge

As we are all slowly emerging from the craziness and anxiety of the coronavirus pandemic, it is good to remind ourselves that even though we can see some light, it's still not over yet. But we remain hopeful for a return to normal.

Community leaders in East Baton Rouge Parish and state health officials are working together to launch a new federal COVID-19 Community Vaccination Center in Baton Rouge. The center is set to open its doors today, Thursday, April 15, and will be available to the public on Friday, April 16.

According to WBRZ, the ceremony today will include officials from the Louisiana Department of Health, the Office of the Mayor-President of Baton Rouge, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The site is in the old Bon Carre Business Center at 7359 Florida Boulevard and has the capacity to innoculate several thousand Louisiana citizens each day. You can register for an appointment at the new center HERE, and anyone who is 16 or older in the state of Louisiana is eligible.

The ceremony to open the new site will be held today at 2:30 with Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, Dr. Joseph Kanter with the Louisiana Department of Health, and Tony Robinson of the Regional Administrator for FEMA Region 6.
