The official start of spring is right around the corner (Saturday, March 20 this year) and after the harsh winter weather that we had during the last couple of weeks, we are looking to get outside for some fun activities. Louisiana is not used to having cold temperatures holding us down!

Our wonderful Louisiana Department of Tourism always has great resources for whatever it is you want to experience in our state, and they have a fun list of things going on this weekend. I've added in a few of my own favorites as well, so get out and enjoy yourself this weekend, fellow Louisianians.

  • Delcambre Seafood and Farmers Market. 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at Bayou Carlin Cove. Voted one of the top farmer's markets in the United States, this is your go-to on Saturday for fresh seafood right off the boat, arts and crafts, and lots of fresh local produce. A really fun time
  • Shadows-on-the-Teche Arts and Crafts Show. Saturday, March 6, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, Main St. New Iberia. Semi-annual show that features local artisans with everything from handmade jewelry to baked goods. Admission is $5 and includes a tour of the historic home
  • Bayou Teche Music Series, Saturday, March 6, Franklin. Want some free live local music? Then head to Lamplighter Coffeehouse courtyard in historic downtown Franklin from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. And you can also explore the Bayou to Main Marketplace while you're there. This week's entertainment features J.B. Saxx, and Johnny Chauvin & the Mojo Band.
  • Sunrise at Sunset Antiques Market, Saturday, March 6, Sunset. Farmers Market, local  arts and crafts vendors, live music, and lots to explore in this beautiful little Acadiana town from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm at 151 Leo Richard Lane
