How many times have you said, "Hey they're playing hockey tonight, grab a bird and let's go"? I am guessing you've said that at least not any times in your whole life. I understand the importance of a mascot to a team culture. The mascot is a rallying point for fans but it doesn't have to be real.

Our Ragin Cajuns have a person in psychotic looking pepper suit, the Icegators have a person inside a costume but the Bakersfield Condors they need a real darn bird. To make it even more dramatic they have to bring the bird out during a horrendous rendition of our National Anthem.

Hilarity ensues when the bird decides he can no longer take the awful singing and he makes a break for freedom. There is nothing like ice, a large bird, bad singing and hockey announcers to create an atmosphere that is pure magic.
