How Android or iPhone Users Can Detect Being Tracked by an AirTag
Apple AirTags are used to help people keep track of and find lost items like keys, wallets, purses, book sacks, and more.
Unfortunately this technology has been and is being misused in some cases to track people.
However, there are a few ways and apps available that can help you detect if you're being unknowingly tracked by an Apple AirTag, even if you're an Android user.
How AirTags Are Used To Track People
AirTag technology is fantastic at helping to find lost items, but they have raised privacy and ethical concerns when misused to track people without their consent.
An AirTag can be discreetly placed in a person's belongings, such as a bag or a car, without their knowledge.
Once the AirTag is in place, it uses Apple's "Find My" network, which uses Bluetooth signals from nearby Apple devices to find the location of the AirTag.
This network is extensive, making it pretty easy to track an AirTag almost anywhere.
The owner of the AirTag can see its location on their Find My app, basically allowing them to track the movement of the person carrying the AirTag.
Using Apple AirTags to track someone without their consent is both unethical and illegal in many places.
Doing this violates privacy rights that can lead to serious legal consequences.
If you suspect that someone is using an AirTag to track you without your permission, you should take steps to locate and disable the device, and report the incident to the authorities if necessary.
Tracker Detect App On Android To Scan For AirTags
Tracker Detect is free app available in the Google Play Store that allows your Android to search and detect items that work with Apple's Find My network, such as Apple AirTags.
From Google Play -
"Tracker Detect looks for item trackers that are separated from their owner and that are compatible with Apple’s Find My network.
These item trackers include AirTag and compatible devices from other companies. If you think someone is using AirTag or another device to track your location, you can scan to try to find it."
