Husband Of St. Martinville Mayor Arrested Again
The husband of St. Martinville Louisiana Mayor Melinda Mitchell has been arrested again. Lawrence Mitchell reportedly violated a protective order against him by appearing at a special meeting of the St. Martinville City Council last night.
That protective order against Mitchell was filed by council member Craig Prosper. Prosper was in attendance at the meeting Friday night. It is alleged that Lawrence entered the council chambers and stared downed Prosper.
The meeting was halted and Mayor Mitchell asked her husband to leave the meeting. Which he reportedly did without incident. After the meeting, it was alleged that Mitchell followed Prosper down Main Street honking his car horn and waving his arms at him.
When police were called to the scene it is alleged that Mitchell was uncooperative and even threw himself on the ground while getting out of a police cruiser.
This is the second incident in which Mitchell has found himself on the opposite side of the law. Back in January Mitchell violated the protective order against Councilman Prosper. He was booked into jail and released on bond.
