(KMDL-FM) The Atlantic Hurricane Season for 2026 had been the quietest season on record up until last Wednesday, October 7th. It was on that day that the season's 9th named storm. And while that sounds like a lot, none of the storms had reached hurricane strength.

Here's how things looked early Friday morning.

Three of the named tropical storms that formed in 2026 either made landfall in Louisiana or came pretty darn close to making landfall in Louisiana. The Bayou State was fortunate in that regard.

Where and When Did Hurricane Isaias Make Landfall in Florida?

In the case of Hurricane Iasias, the Florida Panhandle was not as fortunate. Based on information provided by the National Hurricane Center, the storm made landfall about 8:30 pm on October 9th near Destin,Florida. Crews Begin Assessing Damage From Hurricane Isaias at Sunrise This Morning

Shortly after sunrise this morning, first responders were assessing the damage and providing details on the situation along the coast. We have collected a small sample of photographs from the area that demonstrate the power of the storm after landfall and the anxiety of waiting for the storm's arrival.

FIrst Look: Damage Caused by Hurricane Isaias

The first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season was named Isaias. It formed just off the coast of Mexico and moved eastward across the Gulf. The storm became a major hurricane but eventually weakened to a Category 2 storm before making landfall near Destin, Florida. Here are some of the early photos from the area impacted by the storm.
