UPDATE:

Lafayette Fire Department Spokesman Alton Trahan says the intersection of Ambassador at Dulles has opened back up, but the utilities are still off.

Officials with HazMat have responded to the intersection of Dulles and Ambassador this morning.

Someone reported to officials that there were was a smell of gas at that intersection, so they are continuing their response.

Trahan says that a private contract worker doing work in that area apparently damaged the gas line.

The intersection of Dulles and Ambassador is closed until further notice.

The nursing home that sits right by that corner has been ordered to shelter in place just out of an abundance of caution.
