Lafayette Man Arrested In Connection With Pedestrian Death
Louisiana State Police have arrested a Lafayette man in connection with a pedestrian death that occurred in Lake Charles. Troopers say that the crash happened on Louisiana Highway 385 about 5 AM Thursday (Nov 22).
According to information released by Troop D, Jacob Ryan Hebert was driving his 2005 Mazda on Highway 385 and struck a pedestrian near the intersection with Weeks Road. The 13-year-old boy was walking with two other teens on the shoulder of the road at the time of the crash.
The injured boy was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Hebert was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and DWI. Toxicology samples were taken at the scene and more charges could be pending as State Police continue their investigation into the crash.
