The story goes on to say that eyewitnesses were able to give police details about the incident, including a description of the alleged kidnapper and a license plate number and description of the vehicle.

It appears that the whole situation arose out of a domestic situation.

Police located the suspect vehicle at a local gas station and both the suspect and the child were inside. The suspect fled in the vehicle with the child, and officers with the Lafayette Police Department gave chase.

At some point during the chase, Zeno abandoned the vehicle, and the child, and fled on foot.

With the help of a K-9 unit, Zeno was located in the Vermilion River and arrested.

The Advocate reports that he was charged with several crimes, including child desertion, domestic abuse battery, aggravated flight, and simple kidnapping.

KATC TV3 reports that Zeno has an “extensive criminal history”, including restraining orders filed against him by former romantic partners. One of the restraining orders included protection for a child.
