An upper level system and a cold front combining with abundant tropical moisture have been kicking up some light to moderate rain showers across most of Acadiana throughout the evening. This chance of showers is expected to continue in the area until at least mid-morning when the system moves out of the area.

Most locations in Acadiana received a 1/4 of an inch to a 1/2 inch of rain during the overnight hours. Some places did get almost an inch of rain but the heavier rainfall totals were few and far between. There is a potential for about another 1/4 of an inch of rain before the system moves out of the area this morning.

Behind the cold front there will be some sunshine and cooler, but not extremely cold temperatures. For the day today Dave Baker is saying sunshine should return to most of Acadiana by the afternoon, then the breeze will pick up from the north. This cooler air will usher in falling temperatures for those head out to Rhythms on the River tonight.

By tomorrow most of the clouds should have moved away from the area leaving mostly sunny skies. The afternoon temperature on Friday will be in the upper 60's across much of the area. The forecast for the weekend keeps Acadiana rain free for Saturday and Sunday but a few more clouds in the area Saturday will keep things on the cool side . Overnight low temperatures should be in the middle to lower 40 degree range.
