South Louisiana Forecast – Big Changes Coming
(KMDL-FM) Forecasters with the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Lake Charles are putting South Louisiana on notice. We are about to experience some of the hottest temperatures and feel-like temperatures of the season so far.
The combination of heat and humidity will create a potentially dangerous weather scenario over the next few days, and then the region will experience a major shift in the current weather pattern.
How Hot Will It Be This Week in South Louisiana?
It is no shock that South Louisiana's forecast includes highs in the 90s and feel-like temperatures at 100 degrees or more. It is June, it's typical for our part of the world at this time of the year. What makes the late week and weekend forecast so concerning is that the region hasn't been this hot this year so far.
That means that weekend warriors on the golf course or jogging or working in the yard will face dangerous heat indices without the benefit of becoming acclimated over a longer period of time. It seems as though we've gone from Sunny and 75 to hellish and over 100 in the course of a week's time.

If you're not ready for the heat, it will sneak up on you. But don't get too used to sitting in your boxers in front of the air conditioner, a big change in Acadiana's weather pattern is forecast for next week.
Flooding Rains are Forecast For South Louisiana - When Will It Arrive?
A frontal system is expected to be in the area by next Tuesday. That front will have an abundance of Gulf moisture to work with as it approaches the region. The current forecast speculation suggests rain amounts of three to four inches between next Tuesday, June 16th, and next Thursday, June 18th.

Forecasters are suggesting this will be a multi-day, multi-storm rain event with several soakings possible across the entire I-10 corridor. We should note that up until Tuesday, rain chances across South Louisiana will be more typical of summertime than a more certain threat of storms.
