Viral Video of Deer Herd Escaping to Higher Ground in Louisiana Floods

PLAUCHEVILLE, La. - Tropical Storm Arthur dropped historical amounts of rain causing dangerous and destructive flooding in parts of Louisiana, prompting Gov. Jeff Landry to declare a state of emergency for Avoyelles, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Tammany, and Terrebonne parishes.

When it comes to flooding, people and property aren't the only things affected, animals are obviously forced to deal with rising flood waters as well as they search for higher ground.

One family from Plaucheville, Louisiana has put out an urgent message on Facebook showing video of their entire deer herd escaping the flood as they try to get to higher ground.

The urgent message is "Please don't shoot them!"

Deer Herd Escapes Louisiana Flood Waters

Hollie and Dustin Anderson in Plaucheville, Louisiana are dealing with the dangerous flood waters from Tropical Storm Arthur, and so is there herd of deer.

In the video you'll see a large herd of deer in flood water up to their necks searching for higher ground. The deer are tied to Anderson's family business, and they're desperately asking the public's help to locate them, and pleading for people to not shoot the deer.

Our ENTIRE Deer herd has escaped!!!! The high water has taken down a gate! They will be everywhere! Please DO NOT shoot them! They have tags in their ears. Bucks & Does!

If you spot one on dry ground that we can get to please call and let us know! If we can get to you we will come and dart it and bring it back home! Please do not shoot our deer.
