Local Boy Scout Collecting School Supplies For Haiti Students

Caden Ardoin, a local member of Boy Scout Troop 162, is going out of his way to do a wonderful act of kindness and we can help. Ardoin is collecting school supplies for children in Haiti. Over 500 students that are enrolled at Respire Haiti Christian School come from restavek situations, child slavery, or domestic servant. The deplorable lives these children grow up with is unimaginable.

According to Respire Haiti’s website, restaveks are usually between the ages of 4 and 15, and unfortunately, these children are often abused. They not only need education, but they need mental and emotional support and they will get that at Respire Haiti Christian School. According to the website, Respire Haiti was founded by 24-year-old Megan Boudreaux. In December of 2010, Megan says God gave her a vision for this community and their children. She moved to Gressier permanently in January of 2011 and began helping the children and people of Gressier who so desperately need it.

This project for Ardoin is part of earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Ardoin is collecting supplies for Respire Haiti, which is a non-profit based out of Lafayette that provides educational and health care services in Gressier, Haiti. There are donation boxes set up at several locations in Lafayette and they will be there through August. If you feel it in your heart to donate an item or two or three, please help Caden Ardoin fulfill his mission.
