First things first, Powerball, the multi-state lottery game that is played in Louisiana on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights, created another big winner in the state last night. You probably read where there was a Powerball jackpot winner as part of Monday's drawing.

How Much Was the Powerball Jackpot for Wednesday, April 8, 2026?

That meant that for Wednesday's Powerball, the jackpot amount would reset to $20 million. That sounds like a lot of money unless you compare it to the $230.8 million that was earned in Monday's game. Regardless, you didn't win that $230.8 million, and if you played Powerball last night, you had a chance to win $20 million.

Louisiana Ticket Wins One of Powerball's Top Prizes on Wednesday Night

There were no Match 5 Million winners sold, so the largest prizes awarded in Wednesday's Powerball drawing would be those designated for a ticket that matched four white balls and the Powerball. A Louisiana-sold ticket did just that.

The Louisiana winner was one of five Powerball tickets with that number match scenario. Another four tickets had the same match, but those players spent the extra dollar to opt in for the game's Power Play function.

If you had Power Play, you won $100,000. If you didn't, you won $50,000. Somewhere in Louisiana this morning, I am sure a Powerball player is kicking themselves for not spending that extra buck. It's a choice that cost them $50,000.

Where Was Louisiana's Powerball Winning Ticket Sold?

The Louisiana Lottery has not released the winner's details on the $50,000 winner; we expect to get that information later this morning. Meanwhile, the other Wednesday draw games at the Louisiana Lottery continue to defy mathematics and probability.
