(KMDL-FM) After a brief lull in producing winning tickets, the Louisiana Lottery and its legions of Powerball players are back in the big win column with a $50,000 win confirmed for Wednesday night's drawing. The Louisiana Lottery also offered detailed information about two $50,000 prizes that are about to expire.

When a large prize, or any prize for that matter, is won in a Louisiana Lottery game, you only have so many days to make your claim and collect your cash. In most cases, the allotted time is 180 days. That's for draw games. The window for scratch-offs and Fast Play prizes is 90 days.  The tickets that are about to expire were sold for the September 3rd drawing and the September 6th drawing of 2025.

Two Louisiana Powerball Tickets Set to Expire: Here's Where They Were Purchased

So, if you played Powerball in the general time frame of Labor Day weekend and you purchased a ticket in either Gretna or Tickfaw, Louisiana, you might want to check your car's console, the pocket of a pair of shorts you could have worn that weekend, or maybe look in your wallet or purse. Because once those tickets have expired, you'll lose all claim to the cash.

And while losing money on an expired ticket might seem harsh and heartless, it's actually a good thing for lottery players who didn't win. That prize money goes back into the lottery's prize fund and is used to support future player promotions. That's how they fund things like second-chance drawings, perks, and payouts.

How Much Was the Powerball Jackpot for Wednesday, February 11, 2026?

Now on to Wednesday's Powerball winner in Louisiana. Here is how the drawing played out for February 11, 2026.

The estimated top prize in Wednesday's Powerball was $126.4 million at the time the ping pong balls were released from the hopper. No ticket sold for Wednesday's drawing matched all the numbers needed to claim that jackpot prize. '

The biggest win across the Powerball landscape came in Arizona. A ticket sold there matched all five of the white balls to win a one-million-dollar prize. In Louisiana, by our best guess based on data from the Louisiana Lottery, it looks as if about 2,700 tickets were Powerball winners without the benefit of the Power Play.

There were approximately 2,100 tickets sold in the state for Wednesday's game that earned money back by spending the extra dollar and opting in for the Power Play function of the game. The Power Play function adds a multiplier to the ticket's winnings. In the case of last night, a winner who added Power Play would have had their earnings doubled.

Here are the Powerball winning numbers for Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

As we mentioned there was a $50,000 winning ticket sold in Louisiana for that drawing. The Louisiana Lottery has not released point of purchase details as of this report, but that information should be available later this morning. By the way, the big money winner matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball.

I am a little surprised that Lotto and Easy 5, both Louisiana Lottery exclusive games, have not gotten a winner in the past couple of drawings. The Lotto jackpot is now $700,00 and the Easy 5 jackpot prize is now $150,000. Both of those games, along with Powerball, will hold drawings on Valentine's Day.

Mega Millions, the other multi-state lottery game played in Louisiana, will have its next drawing on Friday night. The top prize in Mega Millions is estimated to be $385 million for the annuitized jackpot. The cash payout for a Mega Millions win is estimated to be $174.2 million. There has never been a Mega Millions jackpot winner sold in Louisiana. Maybe you could be the first?

Please remember that most lottery purchases result in a loss of money. If you have a gambling problem, help is available. Dial 1-877-770-STOP (7867). Since Saturday is Valentine's Day, maybe you could treat your sweetie to a night on the town with your lottery winnings. Although I probably wouldn't tell her that the evening was funded by "Easy 5", some people might take that the wrong way.
