(Baton Rouge, LA) Sources at the Louisiana Lottery in Baton Rouge have confirmed that a Powerball ticket sold in Louisiana for the December 22, 2025, drawing is a big winner. The ticket did not win the $1.6 billion jackpot prize but did earn a prize valued at $50,000 according to the rules of Powerball.

Last night, Monday, December 22, 2025, the multi-state Powerball lottery held a drawing for a jackpot amount that was estimated to be very close to $1.6 billion for the annuitized jackpot; the cash payout was estimated to be $729.1 million.

In Louisiana, 16,860 tickets doubled their money with a Powerball only match, another 7,197 tickets matched the Powerball and one white ball for a similar prize. About 10,000 other tickets sold in Louisiana, with those same number match scenarios earned four times their investment because they opted for the Power Play function of the game.
