Louisiana Sausage Recall – Check Your Andouille
(Thibodaux, LA) This weekend, all across Louisiana, residents will spend more than a few minutes with their heads bowed as they remember those men and women who gave their lives in defense of the United States of America. It is Memorial Day Weekend, a day to honor those who paid for our freedoms by making the ultimate sacrifice.
And one of the ways we honor those valiant men and women is to enjoy the way of life they fought to protect. For folks in Louisiana from Abbeville to Zwolle and Youngsville to Bastrop, there will be fire pits lit and barbeque grills smoking, and many of those hot coals will be used to sear and score spicy sausages along with burgers, briskets, seafood, and tofu. Nah, just kidding about the tofu.

But before you plop your meat and your reputation down on your grill this weekend, I do need you to read a label and look for a certain brand of sausage produced and sold in Louisiana. The sausage in question comes from Bourgeois Smokehouse in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
The product in question from Bourgeois Smokehouse is their ready-to-eat andouille sausage. The particular sausage in question was produced on May 12, 2025, and was shipped for sale to Rouses Markets in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi.
Routine testing by the Food Safety Inspection Service discovered that the product tested positive for possible listeria contamination. According to the FSIS report, Listeria can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions, sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.

There is a concern that this product could have been purchased by consumers and is currently being stored in freezers or refrigerators awaiting use. If you purchased andouille sausage at Rouses in the past ten days, please check the label to see if you have any of the recalled product in your home.
Consumers with questions regarding the recall can contact Blake or Logan Bourgeois, Owners, Bourgeois Smokehouse, at 985-447-1604 or bourgeoissmokehouse@comcast.net.
