Somehow I don't think this is how Kamren Gautreaux of Ville Platte thought things would go. According to Ville Platte Police, Gautreaux walked into the police station yesterday morning. He wanted to turn himself in. That's not what happened though.

Gautreaux was informed by police that despite the fact that he wanted to turn himself in, they couldn't arrest him because there were no warrants for them to do so. You'd think that Gautreaux would have then breathed a sigh of relief and then walked out of the station. That's not what happened though.

Police say as Gautreaux exited the station a delivery driver was entering. Gautreaux walked outside and climbed into the delivery truck, located the keys, and then drove off.

Ville Platte Police notified Evangeline Parish Sheriff's deputies as well as law enforcement agencies in other parishes and of course Louisiana State Police. It was the State Troopers who caught up with Gautreaux near milepost 40 on I-49. Gautreaux was taken into custody and the delivery van recovered.
