Powerball, the more popular of the two multi-state lottery games available in Louisiana, got a jackpot winner earlier this week.

But let me remind you of this: when the Powerball jackpot is below $150 million, the game adds an extra multiplier in the Power Play function of the game.

How Do You Get a 10x Multiplier When Playing Powerball?

That "special Power Play multiplier" is "times 10". That means any ticket with Power Play that wins anything could have that prize multiplied by 10. The Louisiana Lottery confirmed that a Louisiana-sold ticket was included in the second tier of prize winners. The ticket sold in the state matched four of the five white balls and the gold Mega Ball. By rule that prize is $10,000. With the built-in multiplier, the Louisiana ticket will have its earnings multiplied by 2. That means a total win of $20,000.
