30 New Target Stores Are Opening in 2026 Including One Right Here in Louisiana

LOUISIANA - We hear about stores closing more than we learn about new ones popping up. But the latter is happening for retail giant Target.

Officials with the Minnesota-based retailer have announced that 30 new Target stores will open this year, including one in Louisiana. And, even more are on the way. As previously announced, Target aims to have over 300 new stores by 2035.

Six New Target Stores Already Opened — Here's Where

Six of the new stores opened this past Sunday. Those Targets are located in the following cities:

• Buckeye, Arizona
• Casa Grande, Arizona
• University City, Missouri
• Myrtle Grove, North Carolina
• Selma, North Carolina
• Jersey City, New Jersey

Next up, Target is planning to expand into 48 communities across 28 states. Texas, Florida, and Utah are in line to see the most growth with six, five, and four new locations, respectively.

Where Is the New Louisiana Target Opening?

The new Denham Springs store will reportedly anchor either a new or growing development. That will be the case in several of the above cities while a few will replace former retail spaces.

How Many Target Stores Are Already in Louisiana?

According to Target's store locator, there are currently 16 Target stores located across 14 cities in Louisiana. In Lafayette, we have two -- Louisiana Avenue and Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
