October Update: Latest on Louisiana’s $2,400 Stimulus Checks
(KMDL-FM) Will there be $2,400 stimulus checks issued to Louisiana taxpayers, or is that not going to happen? Is the amount of the stimulus check really $2,400 or is it $1,300? Are the reports that federal stimulus checks for Louisiana residents will be $1,700 true? As you can see, there are a lot of questions regarding stimulus checks and who will get them. Let's verify what we know and help you put the "rumors" in their proper place.
The talk of a stimulus check or "inflation refund check" or "tariff bonus" as some have called it, has been circulating in the mainstream media and social media almost since the day President Trump was sworn into office for his second term. The President himself has suggested that the idea of an "economic stimulus payment" for Americans was something that his administration was considering.

And while the Administration hasn't spoken much on the subject in recent weeks, there has been a lot of speculation about what might be going on behind the scenes regarding these "proposed" payments.
Here is what we can absolutely verify for you regarding any proposed stimulus check, regardless of the amount, for Louisiana residents.

Is There An IRS Direct Deposit Stimulus Check Coming in October?
No. That's a rumor that has been circulating online. Much like the rumors of Dolly Parton's demise and health issues, this information can not be confirmed. Neither the IRS, Congress, nor even Dolly Parton has any plans to send you any money via direct deposit or via check. The claim is unsupported.
Is The Trump Administration Sending a DOGE Dividend to Americans in 2025?
You remember when DOGE was the darling of the news channels, right? The Department of Government Efficiency made claims of massive savings in government, and the speculation was that through those savings, there would be a "dividend" sent to the American public.
Much like the visibility of Elon Musk in government affairs has faded away, so has talk of the DOGE dividend. As of now, there is no congressional approval in the works or planned that would make this happen. So, a stimulus check from this angle appears to be highly unlikely as well.
Tariff Rebate Checks - What is The Status of Those?
The President's plan to raise tariffs on imports has certainly generated money. What is happening with that money and where it's going, that's not entirely clear, with one exception. We are pretty sure that money isn't coming to you or me, at least anytime soon.
You might recall the proposed American Worker Rebate Act of 2025. That act would have used tariff money to pay each American adult $600 or a family of four $2,400. The legislation was proposed and has been sent to a Senate committee. That's where it currently sits. There is no current action planned and none that has officially been proposed.
Tariff Offset Checks: The Latest on That $2,000 Proposal
A California Representative, Ro Khanna, suggested a stimulus payment of $2,000 for American families earning under $100,000 a year. The money, raised by the implementation of tariffs, would offset the higher costs of goods by sending some of that money to American families who need it the most.
Representative Khanna is reported to have proposed the bill to Congress. However, there appears to be no official news from Congress regarding Representative Khanna's proposed legislation.
Who Is Getting 2025 Tariff Inflation Refund Checks?
These are the only checks that we have confirmed to be real. The others might still become real, but these checks have already been sent out in some states. The checks are pending with others. Unfortunately for Louisiana residents, we are not on the "list".
The tariff refunds are only being sent in New York via that state's treasury. There are other states, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Colorado, that are also said to be offering inflation rebate checks to property owners and taxpayers, but they are calling them "rebates" as opposed to refunds.
What We Can Confirm About Rebate, Stimulus, and Refund Checks
Don't count on any of them. There is no official verification or expectation of implementation of any such program in the works, at least in the public eye, at this time.
So, the short answer is NO. You're not getting extra money from Uncle Sam, and neither am I. I don't know why, but I have this sneaky suspicion that the subject of "sending money to Americans" will suddenly reappear close to the next important election.
Of all the rumors we've covered in this article, that's the one rumor I believe the most.
