Those Checks Americans Were ‘Promised’ – What’s The Status?
(KMDL-FM) Whether you agree or disagree with the policies of the current presidential administration, you can certainly find some common ground on one issue. The issue that President Trump has absolutely figured out is this. Americans want and need more money in their pockets.
Of the political conundrum for the President, the Congress, and those who are entrusted with monitoring and offering advice on our nation's economy is how to get that money to "we the people" without breaking the bank, or in this case, the government's financial backbone.

So, it's one thing to bring up the idea of "checks for Americans," but it is a totally different school of thought that is required to come up with a way to cover those checks for Americans. That has been where the sticking point in some of these proposed payments by the federal government to you and me has hit a roadblock, or in some cases, a very thick stone wall.
Have Any of the Proposed Government Checks Actually Been Sent?
First things first, if anyone tells the Trump Administration has not paid out on any check offerings to Americans, they would be making an incorrect statement. The checks known as Warrior Dividends, which were sent to members of America's Military for $1,776, have already been distributed. Some 1.45 million American Service Personnel received those checks. And in my opinion, that money was more than earned.
We should touch briefly on the COVID Stimulus Checks from a few years back. No, there have not been any new checks issued, and the deadline to claim those benefits has come and gone. So, if you're holding on to a COVID Stimulus Check and you haven't done anything with it, you might be out of luck.
The other two "promised checks" of note, we put the words in quotes because the checks were mentioned publicly but not officially promised as policy, so you do need to understand the update on these checks with that nugget of information.

What Is The Latest Update On the DOGE Dividend Checks?
Also, you need to understand that Congress has to get involved with any kind of expenditure that is this large. So, there are reasons why progress has been minimal or non-existent in the case of the DOGE Dividend and the Tariff Rebate Checks.
The DOGE dividend was "mentioned" early in President Trump's second administration. The idea was to provide a $5,000 stipend for Americans. The money was to come from the massive savings the "Department of Government Efficiency" was alleged to have created.
The current status of the DOGE Dividend is that no formal plan has been established, and the idea has now been dismissed by many pundits as speculation.
What is the Latest Update on Tariff Rebate Checks?
The other big stipend or check that made headlines for a while was the Tariff Rebate Check. This proposed stipend of "thousands of dollars," apparently, the number that bounced around was close to $2,000, has not been formally discussed, nor has a formal timeline for distribution of this money been created.
The money, allegedly raised by increased tariffs on imports, has been deemed insufficient by many economists. This plan would also require approval from Congress, so the status of this check is about where it was the last time we spoke about it. It's not moved at all.

In fact, other than the Warrior Dividend movement, a lot of the discussions of these checks for Americans have fallen by the wayside. It will be interesting to see if this funding suddenly materializes closer to the mid-term elections this year. Or will the lack of funding and appearance of unfulfilled promises to Americans become a major sticking point in key political contests around the nation?
We will find out later this year. Don't forget your vote counts, so please register and vote for your beliefs. And if you want money and a lot of it, don't count on the government; you probably have better odds playing the lottery.
