Pensacola Child Dies After 325-Pound Cousin Sits On Her
There's discipline and then there's downright cruelty to kids. This story is the latter.
A 325-pound woman is facing homicide charges after she allegedly sat on her 9-year-old cousin for misbehaving, causing the child's death.
Veronica Green Posey, 64, was booked with homicide and cruelty toward a child after Dericka Lindsay was pronounced dead at a Pensacola, Florida hospital on Saturday.
Posey told authorities that she sat on the child to discipline her "for being out of control." After about 10 minutes, Dericka told adults present that she couldn't breathe.
That's when Posey stood up and discovered the child was unresponsive, called 911 and started CPR.
The other adults present were Grace Joan Smith and James Edmund Smith, reportedly the child's parents. They were also arrested and charged with child neglect for failing to report the abuse.
