Powerball Confirms Huge Lottery Wins in Texas and Louisiana on Wednesday

(KMDL-FM) Wednesday night is a big night for lottery players in both Louisiana and Texas. In Baton Rouge, the Louisiana Lottery not only participates in the multi-state Powerball drawing, but there are also drawings in the Lotto game and the Easy 5 game.

Meanwhile, in Austin, Texas, the Texas Lottery also participates in Powerball; they also host a drawing on Wednesday in the Lotto Texas with Extra! game. We can confirm through sources at both the Louisiana Lottery and the Texas Lottery that there were big wins in both states as a result of Wednesday's Powerball.

How Do You Play Powerball?

The Powerball game works like this: you choose five numbers or have the computer choose five numbers from 1 to 69 to be your "white ball" selections. You then choose a Powerball number, or you can let the computer choose it for you. The Powerball numbers range from 1 to 26. You can also opt for the Power Play function of the game. For an extra $1, you can have your winnings "multiplied".

Our sources at Powerball confirmed seven tickets sold across the Powerball landscape matched "four of five with the Powerball and Power Play." Those tickets are worth $100,000 this morning. Another six tickets had that same number match scenario but did not opt for the Power Play; those prizes are $50,000, and there was one winner each confirmed by the Louisiana Lottery and the Texas Lottery.

What Lottery Games Are Drawn in Texas and Louisiana on Wednesday Nights?

In the other games on Wednesday, there were no jackpot winners in Lotto Texas with Extra! from the Texas Lottery. There were also no jackpot winners in Louisiana's Easy 5 and Lotto games.
