If you happen to be someone who has found themselves sequestered in their home without a whole lot to do then I have some good news for you. By as early as Friday morning but more likely Friday afternoon and evening you should be able to watch the raindrops race down the windows of your home.

I know, I get it, It's not much entertainment but it's really all we have, right?

Here's what is shaping up for the weekend. A storm system that is currently creating a major severe weather threat in West Texas is expected to move toward Louisiana during the day today. By Friday, the combination of the storm system and an abundance of Gulf moisture should really enhance rain chances across the region.

The best chance of showers and storms will likely occur during the afternoon hours of Friday. Rain chances will remain high through Friday evening. By Saturday the system should have moved far enough away from the area to drop the rain chance to only a moderate risk of showers.

That escape from the rain will likely be short-lived as rain chances build back in for Saturday night and Sunday. As of now, the Storm Prediction Center has not placed the region under an organized threat of severe weather but some of the storms Saturday night through Sunday evening could be strong with gusty winds and heavy downpours.
