Recall Issued for Popular Tool Sold at Home Depot
(KMDL-FM) The weekend is upon us, and all across the fruited plains of Texas and the Cajun Prairie of Louisiana, homeowners will be out in force this weekend taking care of "honey do's". You know those little odd jobs and chores you wait for the weekend to do when you have a little more time.
One of the more popular spots for "Do-it-Yourselfers" to gather on a weekend morning is Home Depot. There are 189 Home Depot locations in Texas. Louisiana has 28 locations of the home improvement giant. So, between Home Depot, Lowe's, and in many communities in Louisiana, Stine Yard and Lumber, that's where you'll find the folks who are motivated to "do stuff" this weekend.

But before you get out in the yard or start searching for your work gloves, you need to be aware that a popular tool, sold at Home Depot, has been recalled by the manufacturer, and that recall is supported by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
What Home Depot Product is the Subject of a Consumer Recall?
The product in question comes from Werner, and if you work in construction or carpentry, you know there is an issue with ladders. Werner is one of the leading ladder manufacturers in the world, and they have announced a recall on their 20' and 24' Multi-Max Pro Multi-Purpose Ladders.
The specific issue with the ladders is with the locking mechanism. That mechanism can jam and not fully lock into place. This has produced a falling hazard for users. The company has reported 18 different incidents involving the failure of the locking mechanism. Fourteen of those 18 incidents resulted in injuries.
Some of the injuries reported included bruises, cuts, scrapes, lacerations, head injuries, and fractures. If you have one of the recalled ladders, you are requested to stop using it immediately.

What Do the Recalled Werner Ladders From Home Depot Look Like?
According to CPSC, here are the specifics on the ladders involved in the recall:
The ladders were sold in silver with a blue top and a blue label on the side rail. The label includes an oval containing the word “Werner” next to the words “MULTI MAX PRO” along with the size and model number ALMP-20IAA or ALMP-24IAA. The ladders also have a long black rope in the back section.
If you have one of the recalled ladders at your home or business, you will need to contact Werner for a full refund. You will also be given instructions on how to properly dispose of the defective ladder. You may call Werner at 888-624-1907. That number is answered between 7 am and 5 pm Central Time.
You may also send electronic correspondence to ladder@realtimeresults.net or visit this site, wernerco.com/recalls. The recalled products were sold at Home Depot Stores nationwide between November 2021 and February 2024. The average price of the products ranged from $200 to $288.
