This week our Morton Salt "Shaking out the Good Stuff" spotlight shines on another grassroots organization in Acadiana. The group is Rosa's Angels and it's one of many holiday charitable drives in South Louisiana that seeks to make sure everyone gets "a little something" for Christmas.

The "Santa" behind this great offering is Robin McMillan. Robin is the proprietor of McMillan's Pub and every year for the past decade or so, Robin has been perusing organizations in Acadiana looking for ways to help out kids. Rosa's Angels is the brainchild of that desire to make the holidays brighter.

The names that Robin uses for the Rosa's Angels program come from CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocates, ARCH-Acadiana Regional Coalition on Homelessness and Housing, SMILE- The Community Action Agency, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Acadiana, and from people like you.

In most cases, each child has filled out a wish list of items that they would love to have for Christmas. Some of the items are what you might expect a typical kid to have on their list. Then there are lists where things like shampoo, new shoes, warm socks, and a coat literally take your breath away.

The need is real and Robin and her band of Rosa's Angels elves are up to the challenge but they could use your help. If you'd like to adopt a name off of the Rosa's Angels list or just reach out to see what you can do to help you can always contact Robin at McMillan's Pub.

That site is also a drop-off for items (McMillan's Pub) at 2905 East Simcoe in Lafayette. You may also drop off items for Rosa's Angels at our studios which are located at 1749 Bertrand Drive in Lafayette. Our sister station KPEL-FM is leading the charge for Rosa's Angels this year.

Shaking Out the Good Stuff is a weekly feature sponsored by Morton Salt and their Weeks Island facility. That facility is currently looking to hire several employees for key positions. These positions come with great pay and a wonderful benefits package. And, unlike the oilfield, you'll get to sleep in your own bed every night.
