The New Orleans Saints added some linebacker depth on Monday.

The team signed veteran linebacker Audie Cole to a contract.

The 28-year old Cole, who has spent years seasons in the NFL, signed a two-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars in March, before they released him on Saturday.

A native of Monroe, Michigan, Cole played his college football at North Carolina State, before being selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh-round pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-5, 248-pound Cole played in five seasons for the Vikings, 2012-2016, accumulating 86 tackles, including 59 solo stops, to go along with a sack and two fumble recoveries, over 57 career games, including seven starts.

Primarily a middle linebacker, Cole's best season came in 2013, when he recorded 45 tackles and a sack.

Last season, Cole accumulated 12 tackles in all 16 games, mainly on special teams.
