The New Orleans Saints made a move this week to bolster their secondary.

The team signed former Seattle Seahawks cornerback DeShawn Shead on Tuesday.

The 30-year old Shead has not played in the NFL this season.

An undrafted free agent out of Portland St., Shead signed with the Seahawks following the 2012 NFL Draft.

A member of Seattle's Super Bowl XLVIII team in 2014, Shead became a part-time starter for Seattle in 2015, prior to becoming a full-time starter in 2016, compiling 57 tackles and one interception, before tearing his ACL in the playoffs, causing him to miss almost the entire 2017 season.

The 6-foot-2, 216-pound Shead played for the Detroit Lions last season, appearing in 12 games, totaling 18 tackles.

A native of Palmdale, California, Shead returned to Seattle in the offseason but was released prior to the start of the season.

In parts of 7 seasons in the NFL, Shead has appeared in 66 games, including 23 as a starter, accumulating 168 tackles, to go along with two interceptions.
