Popular Salad Kits Sold in Louisiana Recalled
(KMDL-FM) In the lexicon of language that describes Louisiana's culinary traditions, there is seldom a mention of leafy greens, veggies, and crusted bread served with a splash of fermented grapes or apples and a touch of oil. What in the hell is that supposed to mean?
I said, In Louisiana, we don't eat a lot of salads. Or at least those of us in Louisiana who do eat salads don't make as big a deal out of it as those who eat gumbo, jambalaya, and étouffée do. But salads are still on the menu. Usually, it's potato salad if we're having gumbo, but nevertheless, we still eat salads in Louisiana.

And despite the fact that there is historical proof that states' dietary choices place us at the bottom of the "healthy diets" list, we still know that some of you eat salads. And it's for those few, we bring you the news of a salad kit recall.
Salad kits, if you ask me, are the only way to do salad, besides visiting a full-service salad bar. The salad kit has the main greens, the accessory greens, the veggies that you don't know what they are, and some crunchy toppings that get stuck in your teeth. The kits also contain just enough dressing to make you wish they had included more.
Which Salad Kits Are Subject to an FDA Voluntary Recall?
Taylor Farms is a leading producer of salad kits that are sold in Louisiana. You can find their products in a number of stores across the state. The kits usually come in a variety of choices, so we want to make sure that you're aware that not all of the Taylor Farms salad kits are being scrutinized.
Only the Honey Balsamic salad kit from Taylor Farms is the subject of a recall notification. The reason for the recall is a concern over allergens. The exact concern for the salad kit comes in the dressing. Several of the kits were shipped with the wrong dressing package included.
The standard dressing package with Honey Balsamic kit features a vinaigrette dressing. The packet that was included in kits sold in AL, AZ, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MO, MS, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WV included a packet of Asian Sesame Ginger dressing.

What is the Allergen Concern in the Recalled Salad Kits from Taylor Farms?
The concern is that the Asian Sesame Ginger dressing could expose those with allergies or sensitivities to sesame or soy to active allergens. This could result in illness or hospitalization if not promptly treated. The company says so far there have been no reports of illness caused by this packaging error.
The company says refunds or replacement kits are available at the point of purchase. If you do have questions or concerns, call 855-455-0098. That consumer help line is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm Pacific Time.
