Shaking Out the Good Stuff – Holy Ghost Creole Festival
This week the Shaking Out the Good Stuff spotlight from Morton Salt shines brightly on Holy Ghost Catholic Church and their Creole Festival which is scheduled for this weekend. The Creole Festival is an annual presentation by the church and its congregation. The purpose of the festival is to highlight the many cultural and culinary traditions of the Creole culture through food and music.
The festival takes place from Friday, November 1 through Sunday, November 3rd. If this year's festival is like the previous celebrations the day on Friday will feature fried catfish in the morning and great gospel music from choir groups in the evening.
The weekend's events include more great food and tastings. Tickets may be purchased at the Church's Parish Office. You may also sign up for the 5k Run or the 1-mile Fun Run. We suggest you do those runs before you eat. And be sure to save some energy for the live music which will be performed throughout the weekend.
In addition to great Creole dishes and snacks festival goers will also be treated to a large selection of sweets and desserts. Of course, there will be Cajun favorites such as boudin and cracklins available too.
All proceeds generated by the festival go toward the Holy Ghost Catholic Church outreach and community programs. So, be sure you leave your ice chest and pets at home and bring plenty of money to help support the cause. If you need more information you can visit the church website.
Shaking Out the Good Stuff is a weekly feature sponsored by Morton Salt's Week's Island Facility. Morton Salt believes community support at the grassroots level is what makes Acadiana and South Louisiana such a great place to live and work.
