St. Martinville Under Boil Advisory
Residents of St. Martinville are under a boil advisory this morning. Officials with the city's water systems say a drop in pressure as a result of a malfunction at the water plant is the reason the boil advisory has been issued.
An official with Cenla Environmental Science told KATC that crews were working to correct the issue as soon as possible. Still, with most boil advisory cases, it takes some time for the water supply to be verified as safe for public consumption.
Until the boil advisory is retracted residents under the advisory are encouraged to boil any water for consumption, cooking, even brushing teeth, for one minute. Naturally, you'd want to let that water cool down before you attempted to use it.
There was no timetable offered as to how long repairs would take nor when the boil advisory might be lifted.
