The United Postal Service sent an email yesterday to inform users of USPS.com that they were exposed to a security breach.

The incident happened on November 26th when a security flaw on the U.S. Postal Service platform exposed data of more than 60 million users by allowing anyone logged-in to USPS.com to query the system for data.

USPS did quickly get the flaw patched according to Tech Crunch.

User data exposed included usernames, user IDs, email addresses, account numbers, addresses, phone numbers, and real-time mail delivery data.

Officials with the USPS are still investigating the incident and it's unknown if users will be contacted by USPS.

In the meantime, if you are a user to the website, it is recommended that you:

  • Closely monitor your accounts for any suspicious activity
  • Turn on Dark Web Monitoring to receive real-time security alerts if your information is found where it doesn't belong
