Brandon Scott Lavergne of the Lawtell area has been arrested, possibly in connection with the disappearance of Mickey Shunick. An arrest affidavit confirms Lavergne has been charged with first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.

Catahoula native and 3-time Kentucy Derby winning jockey Cavin Borel was arrested and jailed Saturday night in Evansville, Indiana on a drunken drive charge. Borel was stopped by Indiana State Police for making an unsafe lane change. According to Borel's agent, Jerry Hissam, Borel's blood-alcohol content was "barely over" the legal limit of .08 percent.

Looks like even those in the higher tax bracket need some help these days. Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mike Leake was arrested on a shoplifting charge yesterday in Cincinnati. He allegedly stole six t-shirts from a department store worth about $60. Police say he removed the tags off the shirts and attempted to walk out the store.
