Our series of the most famous people in each Acadiana parish continues this week as we take a look at notable folks from Jefferson Davis Parish.

First, let's give you a little history about this most western of the Acadiana parishes. It's named after the President of the Confederacy during the American Civil War, Jefferson Davis, and was founded in 1912.

The first oil in Louisiana was drilled there in 1901.

Jeff Davis Parish is comprised of five incorporated towns including Elton, Fenton, Jennings (Parish seat), Lake Arthur, and Welsh. And in the 2020 census, there were 32,250 people living in the parish, making it the 33rd most populated parish in the state out of 64 counties.

In doing research for this parish and regards to "famous" or notable natives, there seemed to be fewer household names, but nonetheless, we found some interesting and accomplished people to include on the list.
