Mardi Gras celebrations are a unique and wonderful tradition here in Louisiana. They have been celebrated for over 100 years, and in different ways throughout the state. We have the massive parades with glitter, beads, and balls in New Orleans, and the rural chicken runs, or Courir de Mardi Gras, around Acadiana. Both are wonderful, and completely different.

If you want to see what Mardi Gras was like over 60 years ago in New Orleans, check out the vintage parade video along Canal Street from 1954. It's pretty awesome, and makes us so glad to be a part of this wonderful annual event. Happy Mardi Gras, y'all!
