Hold the phone! Bill Cassidy and Mary Landrieu have decided to give most of us a reason to watch the Jets and Dolphins NFL game on Monday Nigh December 1. That's right, our state's current mud slinging champions will be muddling through another tepid, uninspired, and bland bowl of political pablum known as a debate on that very day.

Do I sound like a cynical voter that is weary of all the politics? I am and I bet you are too but still we need to pay attention to what Mr. Cassidy and Ms Landrieu say or don't say during this discussion of the issues. Okay, of the issues that they choose to discuss.

After Tuesday's election results many thought Mr. Cassidy would not choose to debate Senator Landrieu because she had everything to gain and he had a lot to lose. Now it appears as though the Cassidy camp has changed their mind. When asked why, in true politician style Mr. Cassidy answered this way,

"And, frankly, if she wants to add another, reveal to the people of Louisiana her closeness to the president.  Because on policy, there is no difference."

Not to be out done Senator Landrieu had this bit of political speak to add to the fodder,

"Not Harry Reid's record, not Mitch McConnell's record, not President Obama's record, not Bill Clinton's record, not Hillary Clinton's record, but his record.  It's the only thing he doesn't want to talk about."
Both candidates were quoted in a story published by the Louisiana Radio Network.
If it sounds like more of the same, it is. Chances are this debate will not shed any new light on any glaring issues that we the people of Louisiana feel are really important. I do applaud both candidates for getting in front of the voters and giving those that have not made up their mind a chance to shop and compare.
It's most likely that I will pass when it comes time to watch this debate on TV. I know where each candidate stands on the issues that I think are important and I doubt that position will change anytime soon. If you have not arrived at a similar conclusion I encourage you to watch this made for TV political commercial. You might find out just how much of Jets or Dolphins fan you really are.
