Freddy Fender's life was just like the country songs he sang. To say Freddy had a hard a tough row to hoe is an understatement. In all honesty Freddy was responsible for a lot of the not so good things that happened in his time on this planet. He faced them like a man and I'd like to think he learned about himself during the process.

His trials and struggles became the basis for a lot of his music and with Freddy you knew the songs were real and right from the heart. It was on this day in 1975 Freddy's signature tune "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights" topped the country music charts.
