Many things have changed in the year since we were first affected by the coronavirus pandemic, and that includes how Americans shop. A run to the grocery store used to be a breeze, but now it involves social distancing, hand sanitizer at every register, and of course, masks. And somehow in the middle of all of this, wearing a mask (or not wearing one) has become a very volatile political statement.

Costco Warehouse Club, like most large retail operations, has had to adapt to the changing times. They were one of the first to institute a zero-tolerance policy for mask-wearing, and they disbanded their wildly popular free sample programs in order to comply with CDC guidelines to keep customers safe. But, unlike others, they have not offered curbside pick-up for customers. But that might be changing.

According to USA Today, Costco Wholesale is offering curbside service on a test basis at three of their New Mexico stores. You can now order through Instacart at their Albuquerque stores, and if it goes well, the service could be rolled out at more locations nationwide. Around 2,000 items, including food and non-grocery items, will be available for the service. Costco already uses Instacart for same-day deliveries.

The company told USA Today that there will be a designated area for parking pickup at each store, and a $10 fee will be charged, with a minimum order of $100. Would this be something you would like to see at our Lafayette store?
