Election Day Food Drive to Benefit FoodNet
It seems like we've been talking about election day for the past ten years, but we're happy to say that it really is right around the corner. Next week, as a matter of fact, on Tuesday, November 3. We know you've probably gotten a million reminders to go vote, but it truly is a good year to step it up and do your civic duty.
But if you were looking for something else to contribute to in honor of having the freedom to vote for whoever you choose next week, then we've got something perfect for you. The Rotary Club of Lafayette is asking all voters to participate in their annual Election Day Food Drive. And this year, it's more important than ever to be generous. A lot of folks are still out of work, or are recuperating from coronavirus, or have lost hope that things will get better before the end of the year. So even if you have already voted, or are not participating, try to drop some items off on November 3.
On Tuesday from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm you can bring non perishable food items and/or pantry staples to any voting precinct in Lafayette parish. Donation boxes will be set up at each location for your convenience, and all contributions will benefit FoodNet Community Food Bank. According to coordinator Todd Citron of Hub City Ford "There's always a big turnout, especially this year there will be a big turnout for the presidential election, so it just made sense that when you're coming to vote let's do something for the community. With all the hurricanes we've had and are having, the community sure needs our help. It's a great way to help out."
