Diners Casually Continue Eating While Sitting in Water as Local Restaurant Floods in Lake Charles
People in Lake Charles are clearly used to flooding and this viral video is literal proof.
Alex Marrero posted a video from KD's Diner in Lake Charles to his Facebook page showing flooding throughout the restaurant as the city has been hit with heavy rain since early this morning.
What struck me the most about this video was how casual people seemed to carry on while floodwaters swished beneath their tables and around their feet.
KD's Diner is located at 240 W Prien Lake Road—one of the major streets in Lake Charles, so I would imagine other businesses and homes in the area are dealing with the same issues as the rain continues to fall in Southwest Louisiana.
Commenters pointed out just how normal this has become for Lake Charles residents including Randell Gresham who described it as "an everyday thing."
This is especially sad to see in Lake Charles given what they're still going through due to Hurricanes Laura and Delta, as well as numerous delays and roadblocks when it comes to rebuilding from the storms.
This photo shows a car that was allegedly covered within 45 minutes of a downpour.
