Free agent running back Adrian Peterson is scheduled to meet with the New Orleans Saints next week, as first reported by NFL Network analyst and former Saints fullback Heath Evans.

Peterson, 32, is coming off an injury filled season, and has missed 28 games in the last 3 years.

At his peak, Peterson was NFL MVP in 2012, rushing for 2,097 yards, second most in a single season in league history.

When healthy, he was consistently one of the best running backs, arguably the best running back, in the league.

How much does he have left in the tank? Time will tell, but teams around the league haven't responded the way he had hoped.

Peterson and his agent expected more offers for their initial high asking price when free agency began.

After spending his entire career with the Minnesota Vikings, Peterson will play somewhere new next season.

He visited the New England Patriots last week, but left without a contract offer.
