Hancock Fabrics is closing all of it remaining 185 stores after filing for bankruptcy.

That of course means the closing of Acadiana's only Hancock Fabrics store located on Ambassador Caffery in the Courtyards of Ambassador Row.

The Great American Group won a bankruptcy auction for assets and inventory of the fabric and craft retailer.

The company had filed for bankruptcy back in 2007, but re-emerged a year later. Then in February of this year they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

According to their website, they've already started advertising a going-out-of-business sale both in stores and online. Sales will last for the next few weeks while inventory remains.

Hancock Fabrics first opened in 1957.
