According to a Louisiana sheriff, a 34-year-old woman was arrested after allegations were made that she had opened a casket at a memorial park.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says his investigators began checking into a complaint after a woman said she saw several women opening a casket at Serenity Memorial Park in Opelousas.

If you can imagine how bizarre this situation must have been, according to Sheriff Guidroz, a person called them to complain that a group of women opened up her brother's casket. This person also gave investigators four names of women they believed were involved. Why the women were doing this has not been shared by the Sheriff's Office.

The investigation began, and deputies interviewed employees who work at Serenity Memorial Park who actually witnessed the entire situation.

Guidroz says via a press release,

The subsequent investigation led to the positive identification of Quina Clay as the individual responsible for the opening of the casket.

The woman was arrested and charged with desecration of a grave.

Guidroz went on to say,

While the loss of someone we know or loved is always a traumatic event, it does not justify the actions taken by the parties involved.

This whole situation unfolded on Friday, January 10, when the complaint came into the Sheriff's Office.

According to Major Mark Leblanc, spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office, anyone with any other information about this situation is asked to call the St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers line at 337-948-6516. You can remain anonymous.
