Good news for Team James fans as Bayou Chicot's James Dupré won his first battle on The Voice last night.

As a reminder, in the battle rounds, the coaches pit two members of their team against each other in a dueling duet. The coaches pick one contestant to continue, and the other goes home, unless another coach steals the defeated contestant for their team.

James was matched up against fellow Team Adam singer Dustin Monk. Beforehand, they were coached by mentor John Fogerty. They also sang one of Creedence's biggest hits, "Fortunate Son", a song written by Fogerty.

All the coaches were in agreement that James was the smoother singer, while Dustin took more chances and was more of a showman. However, in the end, talent won out and James moves on in the competition.

There were a total of three contestants that were officially eliminated from the competition last night while three contestants were "stolen" from one team to another.

Each team started with 12 members, for a total of 48 singers starting the competition as of Monday night's Battle Round opener.

We'll be following James all the way through the competition.
