According to ESPN, suspended New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma was offered a reduction in his season-long suspension. Reports are that Vilma was offered a deal late last week that would reduce his suspension to eight games, providing he drop his defamation lawsuit against NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Settlement talks will resume today and a soft deadline is believed to be this Friday, which is the next scheduled appearance before U.S. District Court Judge Ginger Berrigan.

The original hearing was held July 26th as Judge Berrigan was deciding whether to grant a temporary restraining order for the four players suspended by Goodell.

It should be interesting to see how this plays out. We'll keep you updated as soon as we hear more.
