Acadiana Business Update: New Jewelry Store, Two Closures
LAFAYETTE, La. (KMDL-FM) - There is one thing about the Acadiana business landscape that is consistent, and that's change. We also want to share a few updates with you.
Kay Jewelers Expands into River Marketplace
The Acadiana Advocate has reported that a new business will be moving into the former Books-A-Million building in Lafayette.
Kay Jewelers was recently issued a building permit for the fourth and final vacant spot in the building located at 4419 Ambassador Caffery in the River Marketplace Shopping Center.

Lululemon, J Crew, and Sephora currently occupy the other three spaces in the building.
It is currently unknown whether Kay Jewelers will be closing its Acadiana Mall location.

Louise Lane Boutique in Scott to Close
On the flip side, there are a couple of area businesses that will be closing soon. One of those is Louise Lane Boutique in Scott.
The store has been open at 1017 Apollo Road, Suite 200, for the last three years. The boutique will host its last in-store event this Saturday, August 23.
Owner Virginia McBroom said that during the boutique's first year in business, Apollo Road was closed due to construction, contributing to a lack of traffic. But she believed shopping centers and grocery stores would soon follow them, but those developments didn't materialize.
Broussard Shop Announces Final Sale
The other local business shuttering soon is Abathecary, located at 219 St. Nazaire Suite I in Broussard.
The store, which features bath and body products, fragrances, and more, will be closing its doors on August 31.
As the store prepares for its final days, it will have a closing sale. Some of the deals include:
- All clothing (shirts, dresses, jeans, shoes, robes) - $10 each
- All other products - 50% off
- Fragrances - 15% off
The business will continue to operate online at www.shopabathecary.com.
