Two More South Louisiana Businesses Calling it Quits
Over the weekend, we stumbled on the sad news that a couple of Lafayette, Louisiana-area businesses have closed or will be closing their respective doors.
The first one really hit some of us in the proverbial gut, as many have fond memories of Penny Saver on Moss Street in Lafayette.
Several reports online have suggested that the longtime "Fresh Seafood Market" on the northside of Lafayette has permanently closed its doors.

While a seafood market, most of us recall one of the best buys at that establishment -- the cheap and delicious chili dogs. (You could even get a half a weiner and it was even cheaper.)
One Facebook comment on the Foodies of Lafayette post about Penny Saver's closing summed it up succinctly for us of a certain age.
While nothing is confirmed, we believe the building is up for sale. Hopefully, someone will feel that same nostalgia that we're all feeling and scoop it up and keep it going with those delicious chili dogs.
In the meantime...
In other business closing news, the owners of Abathecary in Broussard made an announcement on Facebook over the weekend that they will be closing the business down in the coming months.
Abathecary is located at 219 St. Nazaire Suite I in Broussard. The store sells bath and body products, fragrances, and more.

The Facebook post revealed the reason for the pending closure due to "ongoing economic challenges that have made it increasingly difficult to sustain our current operations."
The owners also said the changes were "due to new career opportunities."
An exact closure date is unknown at this time, but the owners did say they are beginning the inventory liquidation on Monday, March 31, and will be offering special discounts on all products soon.
