(KMDL-FM) Louisiana, Acadiana, and the Lafayette area in general have just survived a major bathroom emergency holiday. If you've been to Mardi Gras before, you know the old song sings the truth: There Ain't No Place to Pee on Mardi Gras Day.

But alas, Mardi Gras has come and gone, and here we are still left with our bodily urges and functions that require us to seek a private area in which to do our business. No, you don't have to have a private area, but we do have laws in this town, so at least go find a bush.

Bathroom Availability Plays an Important Part in Louisiana Tourism

The subject of waste elimination from the human body is a topic that we are all familiar with we just don't care to talk about it in open forums. That's why it always seems so difficult to find a suitable bathroom when we are away from our own private facilities.

The folks at Buc-ee's, the beaver-logoed travel center, have made bathrooms a huge part of their marketing strategy. They know a good public place to pee is a must for any family on the go. We don't have a Buc-ee's in Lafayette yet, but they're working on it.

Until then, where would you go if you needed to go and weren't at home? Oddly enough, the folks at Yelp* have done the digging and the dirty work for you. No, that's probably not the best way to describe researching public toilets, but it works.

Some of Lafayette's Most Popular Pit Stops Require Silence

I have to admit, I was taken aback by the suggestions that populated the Top 10 Public Bathrooms in Lafayette, Louisiana list.  The number one choice made sense; it's a gas station, but when you consider where that gas station is located, why was that one singled out?

Some of the other choices on the list included branches of the public library, Moncus Park, and Veterans' Park, too. But the strangest addition to the list was at number 10. Let's just say it involves a Hall of Fame Football player and a lot of games.

The list also had two other "questionable" choices as far as my taste in bathrooms is concerned. "Taste in bathrooms", y'all know I didn't mean with my tongue, right? But if I suggested to you that you answer Nature's call at the bus station or the train station here in town, you'd probably give me the stank eye. But there they are on the Yelp* list.

When you're out and about and nature calls, where do you stop in for a moment of relief? Do you ever stop to consider how clean or not clean those facilities are? Does it make you want to reevaluate your own bathroom? If so, here's where you can start.
