Restaurants and seafood retailers in Louisiana and Texas have received notice from the Food and Drug Administration of a possible listeria contamination issue with some food products that were sold and distributed in those two states recently.

According to the FDA food products from Topway Enterprises Inc. or Kazy’s Gourmet could be contaminated with listeria. These products may be used in the preparation of sushi.

The FDA says the tuna and salmon were distributed to Texas and Louisiana restaurants between July 10th and July 13th. The FDA announcement suggests that the foods are usually sold fresh but might be frozen to extend the shelf life.

If you have purchased raw ready to eat seafood products the FDA suggests you ask your local retailer about where the food was processed and the source from which it came.

Should you discover that you have some of the contaminated seafood products in your home it is best that contact your local retailer for replacement or reimbursement and then discard the contaminated products.
